Astronauts drink recycled urine on space station

Astronauts on board the international space station are drinking water recycled from their own urine, sweat and exhaled air.

“The taste is great,” American astronaut Michael Barratt said after taking a sip from his drinking bag, marked with a label that said: “Drink this when real water is over 200 miles away.”

NASA hailed the urine recycling system as “a huge milestone” when unveiling it yesterday.
