In support of Project100 by SOLS 24/7, AstroX donated a total of 100 books for community libraries across Malaysia. An additional 10 more books were given to Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Sungai Besi, Kuala Lumpur as part of their programme to promote the English language and the habit of reading.
In an upbeat event organised by the school, I gave a talk on the importance of using the English language as a medium to learn science. I shared with the audience my experience throughout the astronaut selection process and some of the gruelling examinations that were conducted in Russia. The students and teachers were thrilled by the space talk and I was very impressed of how well the event was organised by the school and SOLS 24/7. SOLS 24/7 is an award-winning humanitarian organisation, committed to serve, educate and empower underserved communities.
In the end, everyone had fun and I hope some of the participants will be inspired to learn English and to pursue further education in the field of science and aerospace. Thank you everyone for a great time today and a special thank you to Yusfi our Head of Academic for the contribution of 50 of his self-authored physics books. Great work Yusfi!!!
